It looks as if he is planted there from elsewhere. He seems so out of place in that suburban environment. The blurry person that comes by is brilliant, well done!

Superb use of the filter, or whatever process, and I am a little bit astonished when I look at the previous image. huh... I do like this better! But not sure of the mix of color and b&w.

This is a good advert for the effect. (Thanks for the links by the way).

Wether it's the effect, the colour or the combination, it's hard to drag my eye attention from the seated man.

I think this is a lot better than the original version – both because you’ve got rid of the uninteresting background (tourists shopping)/isolated the old man (plus colour on him and b&w around him makes him, of course, more of the main subject than he was in the other picture) and because of the new “angle” which makes the picture more dynamic. I very rarely like pictures which are a mixture of b&w and colours – they mostly look like use of an effect just to use the effect/just because it’s possible to do it. Here I think the mix serves a purpose and there makes the picture better, though I agree with John E who wants more fading/feathering. But still – I think you’ve improved the original shot and used the effect so well, that I think it deserves a 10. :-)
