It might be the laptop

but the colours are very subdued and seem to lack punch.

The shadow is very light and although the composition is well done the lack of oomph in the shadow weakens the composition.

Contrast

Hello Rex, I may well have been a little too conservative on the contrast in this photo. I wished to portray the gentle, almost pastelly colours of that cold morning, with its delicate shades. There is frost on the grass, mainly in the overshadowed part of the tree.

I increased the contrast a notch or two; what do you say, does it have more oomph now? I don't want to increase it more, as there is a small area at the bottom that is going to be losing detail.

Happy photo hunting.

NO SUBJECT

John, thanks for the comment - and I look forward to your snow pictures! Even more so as there is no snow here (well, it really is more practical like this); there is hardly any in the Swiss Alps either, which is bad. It has been too sunny high up.

Take care and happy photo hunting

Yvonne

I like the higher contrast version. The shadow is the main focus of the photo. Everything else is secondary and hopefully adds to the composition. Well seen.

Yes it is better

The strength of the shadow now emphasises the feeling that it is reaching for its friends on the other side of the field.

The softness & almost dreamy feel of this shot pleases my eyes.
