Lorikeet 2
Rainbow Lorikeet, Triglossus haematodus, Waverton, Sydney, Australia
15 December 2004, 6.30pm Following comments on my previous lorikeet photo, I've gone back and found what I think is a better one. This has a nicer background and a more "active" bird.

He looks a bit
moth eaten. The rhs of the image lacks interest and the bird looking to the left doesn't help.
If the bird were a better specimen it might be worth 'flipping' it.

he's looking straight at me!
The bird is looking straight at the lens! Remember that birds don't look straight ahead, their eyes are pointed to the side. That's why a bird will move it's head backwards and forwards sometimes, so it can get a stereo view of something.
But you're right about it being injured - the brown patch is not normal, and is presumably from an accident (possibly with a cat, but I'd guess with another bird, as I think they do fight).

NO SUBJECT
May be a scraggy specimen but I wish I got them in my backyard!

NO SUBJECT
too much background, distracts my attention despite the nice subject colors.

background
Maybe I should crop the top off -- I don't want to crop off the right, because I like the chair as it is.
