A lonely impulse of delight
Drove to this tumult in the clouds;
I balanced all, brought all to mind,
The years to come seemed waste of breath,
A waste of breath the years behind
In balance with this life, this death.

You can't beat a bit of Yeats on a Thursday morning. This one has more of a nostalgic feel about it. I love the light bouncing off the propeller and I like the framing of this one better too.

I'm trying to work out why they look better without the whole aircraft in shot.

I prefer this one, too. I posted the other one first as a tribute to the lens 8). Seeing the aircraft flying where they fought is quite an emotional experience.

Poetry...

...at 5:30 is beyond my ken.

 I think the tone here is quite appropriate to the subject. But, the earlier one appeared more dramatic..more of a sense of motion

the shutter speed must be real fast for the propeller to be frozen as if the Spitfire is gliding ... Battle of Britain revisited? ;-)

Great capture.. like the crop, colours and the little action showing it's actually flying.
