Mendocino Coast - Northern California

The waves were particularly strong this day (sat 11/29th). About an hour later as I was having a hamburger
at one of the cafe's the sirens went off that someone had fallen from the bluff. 52 year old man with his family.
He wanted to see rocks on a ledge below and fell into the water right about the left bluff line of this image.
That was saturday. They still have not found him and this is Wed. I put on my 70-300 and got some shots of the helicopter and rescue jet-skies but will not post them.
It was sureal watching the water knowing someone was in there.

A really great wave, and a tragic story. Love the N. California and S. Oregon coastline.

Indeed a tragic story; I can imagine the agony of his family watching these waves hoping to see him alive...hope they find him soon, and alive.

Every year people come to see the big waves hit the coast and people fall in and are lost. Locals know this, the state knows it. Respect the water.

Peolpe always underestimate the power of the sea. This shot, and the tragic story illustrate this perfectly.

Great timing for the wave, Jeff.

Cheers
