this shines Boris literally and figuratively ...the snow and nocturnal light add the contrast of the scene! bravo!

I get the strangest sense of deja vu when I view this, have you posted other photos of this scene? I do not recall any of them glowing like. It reminds me a of scenes out of several movies. The silence of a night when the snow is falling heavily and that deja vu feeling are strong with this image. Great work.

Thanks :)) I've been experimenting with procesing in BW, glad u like it (maybe just a little to much shapening dont u think so?) I'm planing to post this image in a "long exposure" competition on our local WPC, so every comment is usefull

Kathy, thks :)

:) yes I did post similar image (maybe even better compo ;) ) but did not post proces it. It was taken in BW otherwise my E300+14-45 could not get this level of details, and this PP, well it was an experiment with brghtnes/contrast, curves and unsharp mask :)

The silence of this scene strikes me when I look at it, I feel how the snow dampens every sound and adds a little spark to the dark scenes... I like the composition and the use of B&W was an excellent choice for this, a very good image...

Thanks, just to add to your description that tube in the foreground is in old cannon muzzle that once fired on this fort

A superb composition and an excelelnt conversion. I love the light and the way it reflects off the snow.

technically I'm not qualified to comment however visually I like this very much. I'm fascinated by the lighting and the detail of the stone work and clinging snow both on the outside and inside of the gate. The stillness that this conveys with the driving snow in the background is quite magical. It's also quite chilling as I had to grab a sweater before sitting down to comment. I like this very much.

great mood, achieved by an excellent conversion! I lthink the glow on the trees at the end of the gate is brilliant.

Now that you mentined it yes i think it's a bit oversharpened; i dont usually sharpen my images coming out for the E1 unless they're for prints; to me a bit of 'softness' is more desirable to the eyes; you can also try to experiment with adding a bit gaussian mono noise to add to the mystical nature of this ....good luck on your competition ...cheers ;-))
