Lighting & Colour
I only found out recently in a photographic talk by a wild life photographer that sunshine isn't good. If the sun is out this chap carries a net curtain and suspends it on canes to defuse the sun and remove harsh shadows from his flower and 'bug' type pictures.
I think this is an excellent demonstration of the effectiveness of the soft lighting. The colour saturation and the subtle tones would have all disappeared in harsh sunlight.
