From last year - a rejected candidate for the autumn colour competition. Now I kinda like it.

I kinda like it too ... love the middle leaf - great form and the beautiful over all colour ... but there something about the bottom right ... er... ummm. I am going to think about it (or wait to see what other people say ...) Yeah I like it. Perhaps it grows on you.

you have managed, so creatively, to create a rich photograph from a minimal compo; colors and mood are wonderful! excellent work Eugene!

very well seen, are the leaves on the hood of a car (a nice clean one ;-))? The processing is perfect and I like the square crop.

I love it! I'm so partial to leaf shots and also reflections. I assume the leaves have fallen on the hood of a car, though I'm having fun imagining something more exotic like blue-green ice (with the leaves reminding me of figure skaters somehow). I like the way the reflection of the trees alludes to the original home of the fallen leaves. The colors are magnificent.

Thank you all very much!! I didn't think that this would be received so well - it just goes to show!

Yes these leaves were taken on the bonnet of a car at the end of an autumnal walk. I had entertained the idea of it for the autumn colour comp then went off it. I found myself getting curious about it again today. Thanks again everyone!

Cooking over, really pleased to see the reaction of others. I had been thinking about it over the stove and I think it would have done really well in the competition as the coloring and design are very different from most of the entries in that comp. I like it! Though I still think it looks slightly 'flat' bottom right.

I like it ...

very much, Eugene. And most of all I like the the colors of the reflections and the reflections themselv. They are looking as a wonderful BG to the leaves, not only in a physical way, but due to the subtle colors also in a metaphysical way.

Best wishes,

I was lucky enough to win that competition Eugene and I'm glad you didn't enter this one. very stylish composition indeed. The intense colours of the leaves contrast beautifully with the cold green light. I also like the reflected leaves.

Nice...

Wow.. not sure why it was rejected it but.. I think it is superb. I specially like the Japaneses Zen quality it portraits with the blue pastel colors... a 10. :)

I admire it for the reasons already spoken of and also the "DD"!

Thank you all very much for your comments appreciations and feedback.

Martin, I think it is thus there because of the slope away in the car bonnet.

Adrian, your win was impressive but thanks anyway!

Otto, I rejected it as a candidate for the competition myself.

Chris, what on earth is this DD?

Thanks again everyone - appreciate all of you taking the time to comment.

i do too! could have been rated very high and could have won! looks like a composite with a texture BG but I'm sure it's not!

Really nice Eugene! The warm coloured leaves against the faded jade colour BG complement eachother like Yin & Yang. Pleasant specularity in the BG/hood.
