An interesting composition with many shapes and lines for a seamingly simple presentation. I also like the tones and contrasts of colors. I find the three dots on the wall leading to the right from the dark frame and into the lime rectangle a bit distracting however. Well presented. george

the light and colors are very seductive here , i thought it were Alistair 's since he posted similar colors just yesterday ...i like this as it could be part of a cafe wall ...cheers ;-))

I'm quite taken by the subdued lighting, the shape/arrangement of the chairs, the shadows and reflections(?) even.

It's tempting to complain about the o'er exposed bit through the window. But since there is no detail needed/expected there, in reality it balances well with the otherwise subdued nature of the image.

I like this composition and the feeling that the good times, at least for the moment, are over. I think this would be even better in black & white.

Thanks George. I saw those little things myself and forgot to deal with them. I was standing to one side Kathy - you can have too much of a good thing! It is, indeed, part of a cafe wall Dee Vee. Cheers. Glad you like the lighting Chris. It was almost dark in there as I pressed the camera to the window, hence the contrast with the lights outside. I tried it in bw Frank but decided I liked the colour better as it seemed to tell us more about the time of day. Thanks for that comment and rating Grant.

Really really like it, Adrian.

I think the placement of various elements in the composition, and your decision of what to include within the frame and where is excellent. Wonderful lighting and shadow play and hot spots that are small enough to get away with it. BTW, not to be argumentative with George, I really like those three dots. They are small and unobtrusive and they form an implied curve which opposes the curve through TL and BR corners of the mirror frame and those upturned tables. I find the whole very artful. Example: the line connecting BL corner of image with BL corner of mirror. I love to see those things in an image. They reveal a lot of compositional thought on the part of the maker. Cheers.

Well, that's made my night! Wonderful to hear/read your voice again Rob. Very glad you like this one, especially the composition as I think it's one of my more pleasing shots (to me anyway). Great to see you back again, take it easy and stay a while.

I think ...

this is a very impresssing composition, adrian, at least to me. You decided right to let this in color, IMHO (itīs even monochrome :-)) And this monochrome tone makes a great part. The other part makes the outside interior and their shadows. The whole composition looks very artful (due to the color IMHO) on one side, on the other rather quiet, perhaps hopeless. And in this case I too like the border :-))

Best wishes,

I am also quite fond of this. Just want to mention that the white frame as a repetition of the frame of the mirror contributes a lot to this image.

Great photography Adrian. A simple image presented well. Love the compo and the colours (good choice to present it in colour IMHO). Could use a slight rotation (counterclockwise). Cheers, Jeremy
