NO SUBJECT

Hi Yvonne,

Just catching up after being very busy in work. I like this image and the border which compliment each other very well. I love th composition and the colours but especially the water droplet and the reflection of the leaf and stalk. There is a strong contrast between the lower half of the image and the upper half. I would have liked the top left corner to be as rich as the lower right corner but perhaps this was not possible in the conditions you found yourself in. Green and red compliment each other well here and I love the veins in the leaf. Nice capture and well seen.

Best wishes

Eugene

Neither one thing nor t'other

I am very unsure about this picture.

I agree with Eugene's comment about the top left, part of the beauty of this image is the depth of colour and colour contrast in the lower half.

My uncertainty is due to the sharpness of the water droplet and the partial loss of focus at the meeting point of the 'veins'. Yet there is an apparent black spot that is not indistinct. Hence my title ‘neither on thing nor the other’ I am happy with the OoF nature of the leaves which helps to emphasise the colours.

I think I would have repaired the break in the leaf as that detracts from the intensity of the colour.

Well,

of course you are right, the picture is soft (due to using ISO 400). The light was very dim, there were heavy clouds in the sky, and the sun just about managed to peek through.. I should try with a tripod (as I do not have a monopod yet) next time..

Thank you, Eugene and Rex, for your comments.

Best regards Yvonne
