"Somewhere down the crazy river"
This was my third choice for the calendar competition. The title is from one of my favorite songs... Time for the next layer of paint on my staircase railings, then of to bed! G'night all // Ola Selected for the Hall of Fame on 2008/Jul/03

Love this - those soft swirls, and that dash of orange around the solid anchor of the rock - really well done. Superb shot...

Ola, this is a very great image imo. the rock really anchors the swijrling motion of the rest of the photo. The colors really are entrancing, especially the hilights on the rock. well done. geo

It is interesting
that there is a debate going on near here about B&W & colour because for me the colour in the water is the essence of the image. The colour creates a feel for the bubbling ferment below, the energy of the water.
The way in which the blurred motion of the water wraps round the stone in an embrace holds the image composition together. I think that allows the centrally placed stone to work well in the composition.
There is a lot to like about this image.

Did you catch the blue train? Nice colours in the water, I think you will do well in the comp.

Thank you Deevee! It's a song from the 80's. This is one great stream when it comes to colors. This is the same stream as for most of my stream shots. The water is very rich of iron I think and as soon as the water get up in the air or meets obsticles it turns brown/red/yellow. This gives me a chance to really play with the colors.

Thank you...
Stephen: You are commenting my very favorite part of the photo, and that is the dash of orange at the base of the stone! Thank you!!
George: Thank you George! I was standing in a very bad position when shooting this, not able to benefit from the tripod all by it self, so I was happy with the sharpness result! Thanks!!
Jeff: The colors are really fun to work with on these shots. The basic colors are there from the beginning but of course I have intencefied them! Thanks!!
Vaggelis: Thank you very much!!! Very appreciated!!
Rex: Hehe, I know what you mean and I agree! It was also said in that debate that some photos should just stay in color and not be converted. I think also that a bad color photo could sometimes be saved by a BW conversion. But this one stays in color :-) Thanks!!
Ben: Ahhh, you know the song Ben! Don't know if you like it though :-) Your fill-in with the lyrics "catch the blue train" is the title of an ongoing project of mine that I hope to present soon! Thanks!!
Thank you all // Ola

I agree with Rex and ..
.. the song of course is by one of my favourite people ... Robbie Robertson also of The Band fame which backed Bob Dylan during a famous time.

Thank you Eugene for you comment and generous rating! Thank you also for the info regarding Robbie backing up Dylan! I didn't know that!

I actually gasped when I saw the full size image! This is hands down my favorite of your beautiful series of water shots. I wish I could wade into the image and bathe myself in those amazing colors. The clarity, darkness, and angularity of the rock make a fantastic contrast against the soft, swirling colors. I loved your calendar entries, but I wouldn't mind having this printed large and hung on my wall year-round! Beautiful work, Ola.

Fantastic Ola! I voted for both of your photos in the calendar competetition, but I think this is even better. Hopefully it will be voted into the HOF and then we will never forget this great image. Regards, Jeremy

What a stunning image! Great colors. Tack sharp where it should be (the rock) and silky smooth water flow. Marvelously eye-catching! BRAVO!

Thank you all so very much for your nice comments and ratings! Unfortunetly I don't have the time to thank you all one by one as I spent my morning break (at work) commenting other photos here on MFT :-)
Thank you // Ola

Your other two selected images that are going to be in the calendar only received 6 and 7 perfect scores of 10. It looks like you chose the wrong images for that competition! ;-)

Hehe, thanks Edwin! Story of my life (with a few exceptions :-) On the other hand, with this one I got the chance to see so many top ratings and nice comments from fellow MFT's, which I wouldn't be able to see if it was a contribution to the contest. Even though I managed to get both my contributions into the calendar, it would be even nicer to know in words what people thought about them.
I appreciate your time and effort in digging up the results for my two calendar contributions. I didn't know they could be seen? 6 and 7 perfect scores of ten.....hmmn.....well, I'm happy about that!
Thanks // Ola

I know what you mean about the comments. Of course, the ability to comment on the images after the competition is there, but few people seem to care enough to do so for some reason.
