Quibbles

Jeremy:

I like the concept. Overall, it's striking.

The reflection of the sky in the water is very well done, though I see a little grain in the foreground. But, the sky itself does not mirror this. Darkening the clouds might help...so I think.

I think also, you might consider lightening up the hillside just a bit to reveal more detail.

The tone is a good idea. But , you might consider lowering orange just a bit.

Best wishes...

joe

Jeremy, I have to say I prefer the colour version from the calendar comp. The reflected clouds which I found so striking in the original seem to have lost some of their impact in this version. A good conversion nonetheless, and it only suffers by comparion with the excellent colour version...

Thanks so much for the detailed comment Joe. I agree with you that the FG is good, while the sky lets the image down a little. Maybe I'll revisit this sometime and have another go. Regards, Jeremy

Stephen, as much as I like this conversion, I miss the impact of the reflected clouds as you mentioned from the colour version. Thanks for your comment. Jeremy

The clouds are good Jeremy and the mist is a very nice touch. You're right though, this is let down a bit by the area above the water. Not sure what you could do about it now but if you'd taken 2 exposures or developed 2 raw files you might have been able to combine them to make a more balanced shot.
