Well chosen PoV

And a fortuitous capture. The right place at the right time. A loose definition of 'feasting'. ;-)

and I just like the little bird as well...

Makes me wonder what they're looking at, or is the man simply relaxing eyes closed and enjoying the radiation of early morning sun? Classic!

aahhh - the civilized life. Love the lighting - very delicate and crisp. Very nice image. :))

For some reason, the first thing that popped into my head when I saw this was Chairman Mao. Is there a photo of him in a pose like this, or is just my overactive imagination??? Either way it's a superb portrait, notable for the unusual viewpoint. The low angled, soft light works really well too.

Thanks All for the comments and ratings

Rob: it was more the bird feasting than the man even though he had a nice croissant and a hot cup of italaian expresso!

Misha ...sorry the coffee was all gone ;-))

Vaggelis, we too could do this 1 day near

Iwert, he was trying to avoid the bright morning sun and perhaps daydream for a good while there

Doro, he was basking in the sun and perhaps meditating for a good few minutes...better still for the photographer ;-))

Blair...yes, very british and civilized , it's the city life , one of the most expensive real estate in america

Stephen ...i thought he was Sean Connery instead :-))

Alan ...if only i can do this everyday ;-))

Arnoud....i used to shoot w a twin lens rolleiflex too and one boy asked his father what camera it was; his father replied 'it's a cam only serious photographers use', i thought it was a hilarious answer ;-))

beautiful photo

There's a lot to love about this photo:

 - the morning light and the way it highlights the wrinkles around his eye and the stubble on his face. and makes the long shadows throughout
 - the peacefulness and calm of it
 - the way the bird is sitting there, as if this bird has joined this man on many a previous morning to share what crumbs are left on the plate

It is an all aroung beautiful photo.

thanks a lot Mark for the detailed analysis, this scene is quite common in Europe, especially Paris
