This is just a fantastic spot on ypur part Dee Vee. Excellent opportunism. The woman by herself is superb (although a little scary) but your placement with the women who appear to be muslims raises all sorts of questions about our own beliefs and prejudices. Great, great shot.

Is that your photo montage in the background of the woman with a drink with a man on a pole, or is it some advertising you photographed with a couple of passers by?

Adrian ... we all have pride and prejudices ... it's innate since the creation of Adam and Eve ;-))

EEE: it's an ad for a circus in SF ...thanks for stopping by ... i'd never use a composite for a reportage/documentary shot ! ...cheers,

LOL! I didn't realize this was journalism!!! Even if it was, journalists sometimes "fudge" documentary images in publications...

Dare I say though, that if the background image is not yours... Whoever the photographer was for the circus model made one heck of an image! I like the legs in the background coming out of the passers by's heads in the left quarter of this capture. Not sure how to rate an image that is mostly a copy of an image made by another artist. Nice juxtaposition though.

I am with Edwin. Part of this great picture should be credited to the photog of the ad. The bigger share of the credit has to go to you though for the patience (i guess) to wait for the right moment and for conception of the shot and the special pp treatment you gave it. Klaus

EEE: ok im not a journalist so you can call this street photography if you will ...'journalism' in my mind here is keeping a journal of things i see everyday ;-))

Klaus: fair enough ...much credit is given to the mural artist whoever that was ...i had no idea ;-))

cheers,

Fantastic shot, dee vee! Love the contrasts, both in terms of the subject matter and in terms of the colors and processing. I love the way the real people are oblivious to the camera, but the woman in the poster is looking right at you/us! Just a great shot, worthy of all the 10s IMO (and I'll be adding one soon, I'm sure).

thanks Elisabeth...

yes, her eye contact is like real human's, not unlike mona lisa's ;-))

I can't help but wonder if the original background image has as much impact as your interpretation of it

Chris Cooke HoF ¤1 at 17:47 EDT on 2007-Apr-17 [Reply]

thanks Chris ;-))

let's just say that i wouldn't shoot the BG by itself , it's bold but not my interest ...gotta be more than that ..cheers ;-))
