This was taken with the kit 40-150mm + EX-25 Extension tube. Not as sharp as the macro but IMO not too bad for a telephoto. The only post processing was a little sharpening.

A really good close-up Nigel, the detail in the head and legs is great. A nice pose as well. Too bad about the blown highlights. Have you tried using fill flash for outdoor macros? Seems to work well if done right to balance things out, I am terrible with flash. Good work!!

Thank you for the comments John. I must admit I hadn't taken much notice of the blown highlights. I've tried to rectify this a bit with PS - not perfect but a bit better than the original. With regard to fill-in flash, sometimes I'm lucky often not. Maybe it's my inexperience, but usually I find that my insect shots are 'opportunistic' with little time to plan exact exposure etc. Let's see, there's still a few more months of summer left to experiment!
