I see it

as an abstract but the OoF edge of the part on the left detracts.

Plane

This is great usage of the pictureplane. I think this has a lot of potential, and you are obviously awake when photographing. What I think you can work with is to look at lines in the image, how one reads the image. There is no obvious starting point, no dominating factor, nothing that "pops" out at first glance. I think this relates to how you treat the individual fields. I count five fields in the picture plane, and only three actual planes in the "world" of the image (the ground and the two metal thing plates). The line that is most clear in the image is the one with the most rust. I think you can work with this one, pherhaps look at boosting the contrast, especially around the edge. Try to bring out the single line in the top left corner that when following the edge to the bottom of the picture, becomes two lines (adding mass to the plane). Maybe this is an option ?

Thank You

Johan,

Your very thoughtful and insightful comment absolutely made my Christmas. I had taken a break during the festivities to check my e-mail when I saw that a comment had been made on "Helios Guardians" (view 2). Since this photo had long since left the front page at MyFourThirds, I was astonished that you had found the photo, and proud that you had taken the time to remark on it. Thank you.

I shall endeavor to remain awake behind the lens!

Best Regards, Dave Duricy
