Just wonderful, you must have been very close. A difficult shot, are you sure you didn't use flash?

Just to add, look at the DOF difference at F22 in just a couple of mm, you must have been right on top of him. Again nice capture with lots of personality!

Best Macro Picture

Dear Sam Kan, You have made it again! It's very crystal clear, sharp and a cute insect

cheers,

Perhaps the best picture of a bug on a leaf or twig I have seen here. But "cute"? I think not...

This is,...

as others have pointed out, possibly the best macro shot to date. Terrific color, composition, and excellent DOF. Very well done, Sam!

Just an after thought...

Is the ED50mm F2 Macro + EX-25 + EC-14 being placed on the camera in this exact order, or does it matter?

Peek-a boo

Great insect shot. Well done. Not normally a fan of these shots but I admire your skill in this.

Hi Tony.. It's a baby grasshopper.

Re:Just an after thought...

Yes, you must follow the exact order! It does matter. If ex-25 and ec-14 order opposite, the enlargement percentage can quite be small But the ex-25 manual show:Cannot be used in combination with the optional EC-14 teleconverter. So I removed the circuit board, and reconnected the wire! shown as picture:

Magnificent

I know its been said but it needs to be repeated, this is the best bug shot I have ever seen. I can imagine no better, the light, the colors, the personality all work in a 10, 10, 10 environment. (very nice)

Find out what it is exactly

You have a top one there. Why not submit it to the BBC wildlife contest next year?

Cheers!

Hans

scary photo!

No, not the grasshopper, which is rather attractive if not actually cute - the photo of the extension tube modification!

Grasshopper Giselda says: Hoo-hoo (after Daisy)

Sam, I did like your other shots too, but this one has such a funny tone that it really stands out. I can only echo the others' comments, particulary that of Hans: do submit to appropriate contests, it is a serious contender. BTW, are you selling it somehow? I would rather like it for my doughter!!

Will this be...

the perfect 10? We shall see.

I do wish this were in the 2006 Calendar and hope that next year this will be an entry for 2007.

(I can't believe I said that about a bug picture. LOL)
