First attempt with new Hoya R72 IR filter. Wasn't sure what to expect. It will take some practice for sure. Shot last week at Cedar Hill State Park,TX (Penn Farm).

I have absolutely no experience with IR photography ....so have no idea how to comment on this John....I like the effect on the sky and the windmill ( love the blurred blades )....I'll have to come back to this. You will have to share some tips with Monica on using this filter.

I also have no experience with IR. I do like this picture and the dramatic IR effect. An excellent composition.

You beat me...

to it! You are really on the ball with this...I got one from my back yard, but I don't know if I like it well enough to post yet...:o) I might talk my hubby into heading to the park after our date tonight to see if I could try out my filter in a fresh place...did you walk around outside with it stuck to your eye yet? Looks pretty cool...:o)

Your clouds are nice and sharp, as well as the foilage...what were your settings? and how did you do the conversion? If you don't mind me asking...:o)

John, this is excellent ( like Mark,no expirience with IR)...but the main thing here is not IR,i think it is more thst dynamic which for sure add this spining wheel...

Thank you for commenting, Monica, I think I did just about everything you can in the book to it. I did some levels, converted it to B&W in the channel mixer, shadows/highlights, dodging & burning and sharpening. I am happy though for my first one. Will post another one late tonight.

nice and sharp for IR, I like the crop and motion.

Like it much better than your latest IR post, John

I have no experience with IR, either, but that doesn't matter. A picture has to stand on its pictorial merits, primarily: nothing to do with its 'method'. I like the wide dynamic range of this and the spinning blades.
