'Gator... Waiting...

I didn't dare get any closer to this alligator. No fence between us. Just about 20 feet of water and shoreline. He/she was about 9' long. Shot at the "Sawgrass Lake Park" in Pinellas Park, Florida - USA.

And those critters are very quick too. Oddly, there isn't a sense of menace in this picture which one associates with alligators. The detail of the 'gators head and neck beneath the surface of the water was one aspect that I immediately focused on - at first I thought it was a reflection.
It might have worked a little better if you had cropped the slightly out of focus milfoil off the top of the picture.
Very nice.

Thanks for your input. Their might not be a "sense of menace" in this photo, but believe me, I felt it. Just shortly after taking this photo, a lady passing by startled the gator, and I don't know who moved the quickest. I took your suggestion and cropped from the top, and a little from the bottom to help balance the photo.
