Unknown yellow fungus

SHQ jpg, cropped slightly, resized, USM radius 1 amount 1 threshhold 0

It rained while we were camping and there were lots of different fungi by the track
on the walk out; this was one of the nicest. This photo was taken as close as possible
with the 14-54 and cropped slightly - these fungi were really small!

Beautiful

It's very good, Danny; the mix of colours, composition and DOF. The main subject stands out dramatically.

I like the composition, especially the depth of field and contrast that separate the fungus and foreground from the rest of the picture.

except the lack of sharpness of the fungi, I like everything.

thanks for all the feedback!

Thierry, I'm not sure about the sharpness. Having looked at the other photos I took of these fungi - there were dozens of clusters like this one - I think the slightly translucent fungi are just naturally a little "soft". (I tried more USM, but that looked a bit unnatural to me.)

In retrospect I might have shot at ISO 200 instead of 400, but I was in an unnatural position with my head jammed into the ground, so I was a bit worried about camera shake (and a bit distracted).

Very nice work with the fungi. They look quite sharp on my monitor.
